Welcome to the Sagrada Familia

A church that has been growing for over 140 years

Imagine a building so incredible that it has taken more than 140 years to construct — and counting. Welcome to the Basílica de la Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain, the life's work of visionary architect Antoni Gaudí.

Construction began in 1882, and Gaudí devoted the last 15 years of his life entirely to this project. He knew he would never see it finished, once saying, 'My client is not in a hurry' — referring to God. When Gaudí died in 1926, only about 15-25% of the basilica was complete.

Today, the Sagrada Familia is the most-visited monument in Spain, drawing over 4.5 million visitors each year. In February 2026, the Tower of Jesus Christ reached 172.5 meters, making it the tallest church in the world. Let's step inside and discover why this building is unlike anything else on Earth!
